The inventor and founder of Creative Feet™ is Clare Rowley. She was first introduced to sewing by her Mother and one of her best friend's Mother. She was sewing without patterns by the age of 16 and has created unique patterns of her own that she will be sharing on the Patterns Link of creativefeet.com.

Her Parents started a sewing machine dealership when she was 19 and she began working with them. She ultimately purchased the domestic division of the store at 25 and continued until the Creative Feet grew to the point that she could no longer handle the store. She relocated from Southern California to Prescott Valley, Arizona, where she currently resides.

Clare is a factory trained sewing machine mechanic on brands such as Bernina, Janome, New Home, Kenmore, Singer, Necchi, Vigorelli, Nelco, Brother, riccar and Babylock.

In addition to repairing sewing machines, she helped to train factories on the best sewing methods to ensure a strong profit and the best quality sewn product. Clare also taught a variety of sewing arts such as Free-Motion machine embroidery, machine applique, lingerie sewing, fabric photo albums, photo frames, wearable art, quilting and home decorating. She is also an expert on sewing machine use - that background inspired her to write her 208 page Instructional Workbook named Creative Feet Technical Guide & Workbook. She has a way of teaching that makes you feel as though you didn't have to remember a thing! You will find her concise easy to read instructions unparallel in the sewing community.

Because the feet do so much and to please her customers, she produced a 2 hour instructional DVD covering 61 different techniques that anyone can accomplish with her feet and the workbook. Now when we say she produced the DVD, we mean that she did the entire project without any supporting staff or any companies that specialize in creating DVD's. She filmed, edited, handled sound editing, designed the artwork and layout. Clare is known for taking a hands-on approach to the products she creates and that dedication combined with her talent for teaching was the perfect recipe for this amazing DVD that everyone must see.

For a period of time she was a professional artist in Vanguard Studios, located in California - where she reproduced artwork and painted from 40 - 100 paintings in a given day. She continues to paint primarily in oils and has a web site for viewing www.clarerowley.com She plans to offer cooking tips on the site beginning in 2009.

Prior to that she worked in hospitals her artwork and medial background was a perfect recipe for sewing because it helped her to understand the needs of those with special challenges. Their store gained a reputation for working with those that wanted to sew despite physical or visual challenges and what normally would prevent them from sewing independently became a challenge for Clare to develop solutions.

The first Creative Feet™ presser foot Satinedge, was invented by Clare to assist a visually disabled and hearing impaired sewer named Mary. Mary and her husband, who is now legally blind, entered Clare's store, and asked if she could help them. They needed a sewing machine that could be used without assistance. Mary had begun sewing construction classes at the Braille Institute and found that she loved to sew! Mary asked her instructor if there were any sewing machines designed for blind individuals like herself that would allow her to sew independently at home. The instructor referred her to Clare's shop, hoping that she could answer her dream, which she did!

After a year or so of working with Mary, teaching her machine use, she asked Clare if she could help her make satinedged napkins. This was only possible using an Overlock/Serger machine at the time and Clare knew that this was something Mary couldn't’t achieve. So she worked on a foot that would fit Mary’s machine and out of her work the Satinedge foot was born. If that isn't amazing in itself, Mary was not only born without vision, she was also born without functioning ears so all communication was done using special equipment. This story should inspire all of you to know that your dream of sewing is well within your reach.

Clare later developed the Pearls ‘N Piping foot for a woman with rheumatoid arthritis and the Sequins ‘N Ribbon, for a fashion designer.

After years of business and thousands of hours using the feet, she discovered many new and exciting things that each of the feet can do which forced her to write her Creative Feet Technical Guide & Workbook Vol. #1.

Every year more techniques are discovered that are easily achieved with the Creative Feet™. Currently there are 88 techniques that are easily achieved with these unique presser feet. Clare produced her first instructional video tape covering the Creative Feet in 2000 it was converted to DVD and is broken down by chapter making it simple to navigate through. Clare's daughter Jennifer, assists in the office and attends shows with her and son Vincent, assists with production and also joins her at some shows. This family run business grows stronger every year with love and dedication to each other and to their loyal customers.
