Octi-Hoops free motion embroidery hoops

Watch free sewing, embroidery and quilting videos now
Available NOW!
There are 3 videos on the Free Videos page for you to watch before making your decision. As will all of Clare's Creative Feet, these work on all sewing machines... YES ALL SEWING MACHINES!

Be one of the first to enjoy Clare Rowley's latest invention!
With this (patent pending) product everyone can embroider anything with any sewing machine!
Octi-Hoops on machine
Not intended for embroidery machines that do not sew and not designed to mount onto an embroidery unit. If you have an embroidery machine that also sews, you can use these hoops as long as the embroidery function is disabled or not attached..

I don’t have an embroidery machine can I use the Octi-Hoops?

Yes! Even if all you own is a Treadle sewing machine. With these hoops, you will not have to stretch your fabrics between 2 rings. You don't need to learn software, because there is no software required. You can take an image from a coloring book, clipart or a photo and embroider it on anything from baby socks to dog collars. One of the amazing featues of this hoop is how well it controls the fabric so you don't need a foot at all for just about every fabric.

If you've done Free-Form/-Free-Motion Embroidery before, you know that your hands become sore, not with the Octi-Hoops! Your hands won't hurt, your eyes won't burn and you'll feel as though you've taken a vacation, because it releases endorphins that will make you want to stay at your machine for days!

Oct-Hoops, free motion embroidery hoops This package comes with 3 different hoop frames that are engineered for adhesive stabilizer. You stick the stabilizer onto the back of the specially designed backside and then simply lay your fabric down and embroider.
One of the features of these hoops, is that you use specially desined handles to steer the hoop. These handles force you to hold your hands in a relaxed ergonomically correct position so you sit straight (eliminating back aches) and your hands are forced to be in the best position possible so you don't have risk of injury to your hands or wrists.

Octi-Hoops Instructional DVD
Clare Rowley, Inventor and educator, will guide you through the learning process and open a world of creativity that you can't even imagine. Clare will teach you the basics of machine embroidery; how to stabilize difficult fabrics, how to use these amazing hoops for mending garments that you probably were unable to repair before. If you have a shirt that is stained, and it fits you perfectly, but you are embarrassed to wear it in public - she will show you how to salvage it and love it even more!

Can't afford one of the embroidery machines? This will allow you to keep the machine you have now and embroider faster, with less preparation than with any computerized embroidery machine.
Why? Because you are the one that moves the hoop! You actually color or paint with your thread - if you can color in a coloring book then you can embroider.

QUILTING with the OCTI-HOOPS
It is amazing how easily the hoops working together make quilting and stippling. The procedure for quilting with the Octi-Hoops is:

1) Lay your Quilt Sandwich beneath the sewing machine needle where you want to begin quilting.

2) Slide one of the 2 larger frames under the quilt (the bottom layer of the quilt is now lifted (floating) over the machine's feed dogs and throat plate area. You will NEVER have puckers on the back again!!!! NEVER!!! :) (If you can't drop your machine's feed dogs you can still use these hoops, simply set your stitch length on 0 and you will be shocked that they don't cause any problems)

3) Place the next frame down (in size) on top and inside the bottom frame (( NOTE THERE IS NO STABILIZER ON THE QUILT)) and that is all that is needed to hold the quilt in place.

4) Remove your machine's foot and snap on assembly. REMOVE THE FOOT! NO FOOT IS USED! NO FOOT=NO PUCKERS ON TOP OF QULT. :)

5) Pick up one of the 2 green handles that came with your kit and pretend to write your name with it. Use left or right hand. (You will move the quilt using this small handle and write on the quilt with the needle... but your mind will think you're writing )

6) Place one of the 2 handles in any one of the 8 holes located on top of the smaller frame and after pulling the bobbin thread up through the quilt and stitching to tie a knot - cut your thread tails and begin sewing! Steering using the handle.. and talk to yourself, tell yourself you're writing on a piece of paper not quilting... your mind will release at some point and quilting will become nothing more than doodling on a piece of paper.

Clare's Note:

I suggest practicing on a smaller quilt sandwich to begin with and make sure that the area around your machine is clear of obstacles that may distract you.

I also use 3M brand spray mount for PHOTOS adhesive spray to join the quilt pieces together (NO SAFETY PINS EVER!) so that all 3 items behave as one and later, after the quilt is washed the adhesive will not wash out so the batting will stay in place where you have not sewn. :o)

When spraying the adhesive, I always spray onto the Batting not the fabric and - in a well ventilated room with a method you're sure to enjoy. Take an empty liter bottle of soda and cut off the top and bottom using a serrated knife - take precautions to not cut yourself while cutting the bottle. The kitchen sink is helpful to keep the bottle from slipping as you cut. Then spray down into the bottle as you spray the batting. This will cause the fumes of adhesive to become stuck to the inside of the bottle and keep you from spraying too close to the batting.

****Using this method with the Octi-Hoops - will make it so your quilt will NOT HAVE TO BE SQUARED OFF WHEN sewing is done!!!! Yippie!
